
FANZINI PRODUCTIONS
Fanzini Productions is a contemporary circus company founded and run by Con Horgan from Tralee, Co.Kerry, Southwest Ireland. Con has been performing since 1997 in a duo show Fanzini Brothers and performing solo as Professor Plunger. Fanzini Productions is one of the foremost street circus company based in the Republic of Ireland, touring nationally and internationally.
Fanzini productions are an Arts Council of Ireland funded company and have received four project awards. These awards resulted in four critically acclaimed shows, Cannonball Circus, Guido Fanzini’s Impossible Circus, Professor Plunger and Circus Jukebox.
Fanzini Productions have worked with master clowns, John Lee of Fuse Performance Company, and Joe Dieffenbacher of Nakupelle, Mooky Cornish, John Towsen, director Arne Zaslove, Philippe Gaulier, and award winning clown Fraser Hooper. Con has also received a certificate of clowning from Jango Edwards of the Nouvelle Clowning Institute in Barcelona.
Both Fanzini Brothers are fluent Irish speakers and perform regularly in Irish. They were invited to curate the Irish language events of the 2014 St. Patrick’s festival and produced the “Cirque Du Gael” Irish language circus tent as part of the Big Day Out celebrations in Merrion Square. They have been funded by Ealaíon an Gaeltachta.
Fanzini Productions are also the founders and producers of the annual National Circus Festival of Ireland. This festival is the national showcase for contemporary circus and features a different line up each year of top national and international circus performers. A completely unique festival to Ireland, accessible, yet edgy, contemporary and challenging, this festival continues to set the standard for contemporary circus performance in Ireland.
Fanzini Productions have received three Culture Ireland funding grants to perform in America, India and Australia. Con Horgan has served as a board member of the Irish Street Art, Circus and Spectacle Network, an advocacy group on behalf of the sector.
